टीम इंडिया के स्पिन गेंदबाज आर अश्विन को टी20 वर्ल्ड कप के लिए 15 सदस्यीय टीम में शामिल किया गया है. अश्विन की लिमिटेड ओवर्स के क्रिकेट में 4 साल बाद वापसी हुई है. उन्होंने अपना अंतिम लिमिटेड ओवर्स का मैच साल 2017 में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ खेला था. यूएई की पिचें स्पिनरों को मदद मिलती रही है और ऐसे में टीम में पांच विशेषज्ञ स्पिनर चुने गए हैं. भारतीय टीम के पूर्व दिग्गज सलामी बल्लेबाज सुनील गावस्कर का कहना है कि अश्विन एक अनुभवी गेंदबाज हैं और जिन विकटों पर टी-20 वर्ल्ड के मुकाबले खेलने जाने हैं वहां कि पिचें स्पिन गेंदबाजों को मदद करती हैं.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in Oman and the UAE from October 17 to November 14. Virat Kohli will lead the squad as India will also travel with 3 stand-by players for the tournament which will be held with Covid-19 protocols in place. There were plenty of surprises as India left out the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal and Shikhar Dhawan but picked R Ashwin, who returns to the limited-overs set-up for the first time in 4 years.
