3 मई 1999, यह वही तारीख है, पाकिस्तान से आए घुसपैठियों को कारगिल की चोटियों पर देखा था. यहीं से कारगिल के युद्ध की शुरूआत हुई थी. भारतीय सेना के जांबाजों ने दो दिनों के भीतर पाकिस्तान से घुसपैठियों के भेष में आए जवानों को, मार गिराया.
