सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कहा है कि पिछड़े वर्ग के जिन लोगों को आरक्षण का लाभ मिल चुका है, उन्हें आरक्षित श्रेणी से अब बाहर आ जाना चाहिए. ऐसा करने से उनके बीच मौजूद और ज्यादा पिछड़े लोगों के लिए जगह बनेगी और वे आरक्षण का फायदा उठा पाएंगे. बता दें कि देश के चीफ जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ की अगुवाई में सुप्रीम कोर्ट की सात सदस्यों की बेंच साल 2004 में SC-ST कोटा को लेकर दिए गए अपने ही एक फैसले की समीक्षा कर रही है.
The Supreme Court has said that people belonging to backward classes who have got the benefit of reservation should now come out of the reserved category.
