IIT मद्रास स्पोर्ट्स कोटा के तहत दाखिला देने वाला देश का पहला IIT बन गया है. IIT मद्रास में अकेडमिक सेशन 2024-25 से सभी अंडरग्रेजुएट कोर्स में स्पोर्ट्स कोटा के तहत दो-दो सीटें बढ़ाई जाएंगी. वर्तमान में देश के किसी भी IIT में स्पोर्ट्स कोटा के तहत दाखिला नहीं होता है, जबकि दिल्ली यूनिवर्सिटी समेत कई बड़े संस्थानों में इसे शामिल किया गया है.
IIT Madras has become the first IIT in the country to offer admission under sports quota. Two seats each will be increased under sports quota in all undergraduate courses in IIT Madras from the academic session 2024-25.
